Yvonne Chen

Piano

As a solo recitalist and creative director, pianist Yvonne has created compelling programs such as Murakami Music, Murder Mystery Madness, Music in Darkness, and Bach/Berio at the Silos. An enthusiastic chamber musician, she has collaborated with Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra, WindSync, Performing Arts Houston, Music in Context, DACAMERA, and Houston Chamber Choir. Yvonne also performs as an orchestral keyboardist, most recently with the Grand Teton Music Festival Orchestra and River Oaks Chamber Orchestra. With organist Yuri McCoy, Yvonne is part of Pipe and Key, a piano-organ duo specializing in bringing orchestral works to the community. 

A graduate of the Juilliard School, Yvonne has since made Houston her home, having been on the piano faculty of St. John’s School since 2017 and receiving her doctoral degree in piano performance from Rice University's Shepherd School of Music in December 2019. She serves on the executive boards of Houston Music Teachers Association (HMTA) and Kinetic Ensemble, and is Managing Director of WindSync.
