Rebecca Tobin Krissman
Founder, Former Executive Director, Clarinetist
Rebecca Tobin Krissman is an active freelance orchestral musician, performing in orchestras in every corner of the USA. She is currently Acting Principal Clarinet with the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra. Rebecca has also held interim positions with the San Francisco Opera, San Diego Symphony, Kansas City Symphony, and National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, D.C. She has performed as guest principal clarinet with The Cleveland Orchestra, Houston Grand Opera, and Houston Symphony, and has also appeared with the San Francisco Symphony, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Sarasota Orchestra, Houston Ballet, and more.
Rebecca founded Monarch Chamber Players in 2020, and was Executive Director for MCP’s first 5 seasons. She currently serves on the organization’s board of directors.
Originally from Glen Ellyn, Illinois, she completed her master’s degree at Rice University and her bachelor’s degree at the Eastman School of Music. Her primary teachers include Richie Hawley, Kenneth Grant, Jon Manasse, Carol Lee Smith, and Gregory Smith. As an educator, Rebecca has taught extensively in Houston and has coached the California and Houston Youth Symphonies. When not performing, Rebecca loves swimming, playing pickleball, and traveling; she has visited all of the contiguous United States on road trips.
